Work with federal authorities to improve our infrastructure and waiting times at the bridge to avoid businesses choosing other ports such as McAllen, Brownsville and Eagle Pass, which is currently happening due to various factors. We must work harder to assure this happen as soon as possible!
Our city is strategically placed in a geographical area that has many advantages. Laredo’s trade with the world topped $280 billion according to data from 2014. We are ranked as the Nation’s No. 3 Customs District, trailing only to Los Angeles and New York City. However we need to improve our infrastructure and waiting times at the bridge to avoid businesses choosing other ports such as Mc Allen, Brownsville and Eagle Pass, which is currently happening due to various factors. We must plan for our future!.
As a business owner and working with clients who are business start ups and investors, I see many business owners and potential investors or entrepreneurs experiencing delays or road blocks to obtain building permits, inspections and tax incentives. We need to be more inviting to business and help diversify our economy.
In order for employment opportunities to grow we need to foster a culture inviting to business investors and entrepreneurs who in turn will create more direct and indirect jobs, that increase our tax revenues.
As a Former County Employee I look forward to working in collaboration with the County Government. In addition, I will work to create new private – government partnerships to channel employment opportunities.
I’m sure this November 8 together we will change the course of our beloved city!, It’s time to demonstrate that we have the power to make real change, together we can make it happen!.
